Terms of Service
Last updated: June 24, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Locked on Learning ("the Service," "we," "us," or "our") — including our parent dashboard at app.lockedonlearning.app and the Locked on Learning child app. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Locked on Learning, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you create an account on behalf of a family, you represent that you have authority to bind all family members who will use the Service through your account.
2. Description of the Service
Locked on Learning is a parental device-management and educational platform with two parts:
- Parent dashboard — a Progressive Web App where you add children, set grade levels, subjects, time limits, and gate frequency, lock or release a device remotely, manage emergency contacts, and view learning analytics.
- Child app — installed on a child's device, it gates access behind short, grade-adaptive quizzes (the "learning gate"), enforces locks through native device controls, and provides an always-available emergency screen.
Core features include the learning-gate cycle (earned screen time), native device enforcement with tamper and presence alerts, remote lock from any browser, multi-guardian families, and emergency lock-screen access. An active internet connection is required for most operations.
3. Accounts and Registration
To use Locked on Learning, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate registration information
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your password, Family Code, and the PINs you create for your children
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account
4. Family Management
When you create a family in Locked on Learning:
- You become the family owner with full management privileges.
- You may invite up to 3 additional guardians (4 total), who join with your Family Code and share management of your children.
- You may add a child profile for each child in your household; pricing scales with the number of children (see Section 5).
- Child profiles are created and managed by guardians; children do not independently create accounts. A child signs in on their own device with the Family Code and a PIN you set.
- All children, settings, and learning data in a family are shared among that family's guardians. Permanently deleting a child profile is reserved to the family owner.
You are responsible for ensuring that adding each child is done with appropriate authority and consent, and for supervising how your children use the Service.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
Locked on Learning is offered as a single family plan that covers your whole household. Paid subscriptions are not yet active — the plan and pricing below describe the subscription we are introducing, and the terms in this section apply once paid plans become available.
- Pricing: $7.99 per month, or $79.99 per year (about $6.67/month). Each plan includes up to 6 children; additional children are $1/month (or $10/year) each.
- Free trial: new subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. You are not charged during the trial and may cancel before it ends to avoid any charge.
- Payment processing: payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's Terms and Privacy Policy. Your card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Cancellation and refunds: you may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals, and you retain access through the end of the current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
- Promotional codes, when offered, are single-use and non-transferable, and we may revoke codes obtained fraudulently.
6. Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you create in Locked on Learning, including child names, family name, settings, and emergency contacts you enter. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit this content solely to provide and improve the Service. This license terminates when you delete the content or your account.
You agree not to enter content that is unlawful, harmful, infringing, or that violates any applicable law.
7. AI Features and Limitations
Locked on Learning uses artificial intelligence (OpenAI) to generate the quiz questions in our shared question bank, organized by grade and subject. As described in our Privacy Policy, no child or family information is sent to OpenAI — generation uses only a grade, a subject, and a seed.
Important limitations:
- Automatically generated quiz content may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete.
- Quiz content is for practice and engagement; it is not a formal curriculum and is not a substitute for professional educational advice.
- You should exercise your own judgment and not rely solely on automatically generated content for your child's education.
8. Children and the Service (COPPA Compliance)
Locked on Learning is designed for families and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). Only adults (18 or older) may create accounts. Children interact with the Service only through profiles created and managed by their parent or legal guardian.
Parental consent
When you add a child profile, you must affirmatively acknowledge a consent notice confirming that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and that you consent to the collection of educational usage data (such as quiz responses and screen time) for your child. We record this consent. As the account-holding parent or guardian, you may at any time review your child's data in the dashboard, download a complete export from Settings, disable your child's device login, and permanently delete your child's data by removing their profile (which immediately and irreversibly deletes all associated data).
What children can do
On their own device, a child can sign in with the Family Code and PIN, answer quizzes to earn time, see their own status, and reach the emergency screen. Children cannot access the parent dashboard, change settings, or view another family's data.
Unauthorized data collection
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete it. If you believe this has occurred, contact us at [email protected].
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to manage a device you do not own or are not authorized to manage
- Attempt to access another family's data or our systems without authorization
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to circumvent the Service's access controls or enforcement
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service, except where permitted by law
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
- Share your account credentials, Family Code, or child PINs with unauthorized individuals
- Use the Service to harass, bully, or harm any person
10. Device Enforcement and Safety
You control the rules, time limits, and emergency contacts for each child. Device enforcement depends on the child's device, operating system, and settings, and may not be absolute — a determined user may be able to bypass or disable controls. Locked on Learning surfaces tamper and presence alerts to help you notice this, but it is a supervision aid, not a guarantee, and is not a substitute for adult supervision.
The emergency screen is provided on a best-effort basis to help a child reach the contacts you designate or emergency services during a lock. It is not a substitute for a dialer, a phone service, or emergency services, and we cannot guarantee it will function in every circumstance.
11. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, branding, and logos, is owned by Locked on Learning and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service without our prior written consent. "Locked on Learning" and the shield logo are trademarks of Locked on Learning.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. The primary way to delete your account is the self-service "Delete my account" control in the app's Settings, which immediately cancels any active subscription and starts a 30-day grace period during which you can restore your account by signing back in; after 30 days everything is permanently removed and cannot be recovered. If you are unable to access Settings, you may instead request account deletion by contacting us at [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or where required by law. Upon termination, your access is revoked, your data is deleted within 30 days unless retention is required by law, and any active subscription is canceled with no refund for the remaining billing period.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Device enforcement will be absolute or impossible to bypass on any given device
- Automatically generated quiz content will be accurate or appropriate for your child
- Data will never be lost due to technical failures
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOCKED ON LEARNING SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, ANY THIRD-PARTY CONDUCT OR CONTENT, OR ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO YOUR DATA. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $50.00, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Subject to Section 16, any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Georgia.
16. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court.
Class Action Waiver: disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis; there is no right for any dispute to be arbitrated on a class-action or representative basis.
You may opt out of this arbitration provision by sending written notice to [email protected] within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. If you opt out, the governing-law and jurisdiction terms in Section 15 apply.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will post a prominent notice within the Service and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. Contact Us
If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at [email protected].
